Vintage crackled glaze cat statue in the manufacturing tradition of Longwy industries. Handmade in Longwy, France by the ceramic atelier Emaux de Récollets, estimated to date from the 1980's or 90's.
This particular piece was made with a manufacturing defect - the ceramic body cracked in the kiln. Defective pieces were typically given to the atelier workers and their families, which is where this piece came from.
Despite its manufacturing flaw this is still a majestic high impact piece with beautiful glaze, color and shape.
